Who doesn’t feel the attraction to getting simple answers or taking the shortcuts that seem to save time? Those simple answers and shortcuts help us to fool ourselves into believing we’re accomplishing more than we really are. And maybe there’s occasionally some truth in it, just enough to convince us that it’s a repeatable action.
But without even thinking about the consequences we can easily take ourselves down the wrong path and overlook what’s most important.
Don’t Sneak Past It
As an alternative, resist the seductive nature of going the easy route when easy actually means shallow. Instead of glossing past the real deal that’s right under your nose, imagine paying close attention to what matters most. That’s the people, human involvement, commitment, human energy, human emotion, even some vulnerability. Because that’s what will bring you into sync with empathy.
I’d rather get to the bottom of something, dig into the heart and soul, the thing that makes life shine and vibrate. It’s no different with a business. Look for it, it’ll be there and it just may be the gem that tells the best story.
