The MICA Group
Multicultural Initiative for Community Advancement. The MICA Group connects tribes and communities with people and resources to achieve their goals.
Website Development & Design
2016 to present
The MICA Group formed as a multicultural initiative for community advancement for indigenous and underserved peoples. There was a need to create an intermediary between indigenous and underserved populations and funders and so in 2006 a multicultural group who had a vision for the future came together to form the organization. They could see that an organization such as this could assist and partner with these populations to help them achieve their goals.
In their own words,
“The MICA Group envisions a world in which indigenous and minority cultures have a voice, equitable resources, and the capacity to flourish; where indigenous knowledge systems are recognized as inherently valuable world resources. We envision a just world that honors the dignity of each human being.”
“The MICA Group partners with indigenous communities, governments and foundations to build social and economic capital through innovative, sustainable and culturally appropriate strategies. MICA’s priorities focus on building sustainable capacity, developing visionary leadership, promoting civic participation and fostering strategic alliances and partnerships.”
“MICA brings tools and methodologies that can be leveraged for years to come. Our management team has extensive experience and accomplishments in project management and administration, grant development and review, community mobilization, educational transformation, cultural revitalization, and economic empowerment. For each project, we draw on a deep pool of experts, both indigenous and others, as needed to achieve success.”
On this web design and development project, we had the pleasure of working directly with MICA Group consultant, Linda Spencer, a strategic communications specialist. Her thirty-plus years of experience working with diverse programs both nationally and internationally informs her ability to craft culturally sensitive messaging of authenticity and intention. We partnered with Linda to ensure that MICA Group has a website that is genuine in its presentation and sincere in its communication of the critical work they do.
