The Seasmoke estate vineyard, Sta Santa Rita Hills, founded in 1999, the first vintage was 2001 and production which in 2004 was 4,700 cases. Owner Bob Davids began the development of the vineyard in 1999 above Fiddlestix Vineyard – a highly sought after piece of land – in the Santa Rita hills appellation of Santa Barbara County. The wines are sold primarily through the mailing list and allocations are carefully managed.

Seasmoke produces amazing Pinot Noir grapes and some of the best Pinot we’ve ever had the pleasure of tasting. The vineyard is located in the world’s southernmost – and sunniest – Region 1 microclimate, which has the coolest temperatures for grape growing. They are planted on south-faving hillside bluffs that are characterized by rich clay soils. The vineyard is farmed biodynamically to nurture the soil without the use of harsh chemicals. The Pacific Ocean fog funnels across our hillsides each afternoon, creating ideal growing conditions.

Sea Smoke’s unique combination of sun, fog, soil and meticulous farming results in wines that are lush, elegant and expressive.

What We Did & Why

Our history with Sea Smoke began briefly after their inception and before they had made one bottle of wine or had a web presence. We enjoyed a working relationship with them for over a decade.

The goal of the SeaSmoke Cellars web site was to provide a premium on-line presence; to incorporate existing brand imagery created by Colonna Farrell and extend it to the web.  The site was an informational resource for consumers and the first line portal for consumers to join “The List” which enabled them the ability to purchase Seasmoke wines. It was also a venue for the press with a state of the art e-commerce capability to drive direct sales goals, be a secure resource center for retailers, restaurants, distributors, brokers and a venue for dialogue with consumers and stakeholders.
