Rosemont Market & Bakery
Portland and Yarmouth, Maine
Website Development & Design
2009-2015
Rosemont Markets began modestly with the purchase of one small neighborhood bakery in 2005 that has now grown to 5 markets in Portland and Yarmouth, Maine. Today, they employ more than 75 people, have a 24/7 bakery and kitchen and a warehouse that distributes to their markets and wholesales to restaurants. They also have a delivery service to the islands of Casco Bay and provide events-planning.
They say they are about relationships and they walk their talk with the proof of that in how the business is run. They sell not only handmade baked goods of their own, but local foods produced by people they have come to know. People whose farms they have toured, who share the details of their sustainable growing practices with them and with whom they have exchanged recipes and shared meals. This network of local food producers also shares the bond of like-values about food, beverage and also about living. As they say, “We like being in touch with the entire chain of production.”
We were charged with creating the first iteration of the first Rosemont Market website and then later moved the site to WordPress for more in-depth in-house content management. The brand graphics were already in use and our job was to re-purpose the look and feel into the hub for their online presence. To translate the feel of the physical location onto the website we included recipes, specials, upcoming events, daily menus as integral parts of the website.
