This is an amazing national organization that not only disseminates critical information about pancreatic cancer but also offers free individual patient guidance through the course of an illness, matches patients with clinical trials, funds and conducts ground breaking research, conducts advocacy campaigns in Washington DC and manages volunteers nation-wide.
The initial project for this large, national non-profit was a massive undertaking. We worked closely and collaboratively to unite purpose across their five departments and to decrease 1400 pages of content down to a more reasonable 400. Previously, there was little cross team communication regarding their web presence and one of the goals was to de-silo their efforts online.
We were tasked with creating a site that would have the ability to assist not only panic-stricken newly diagnosed patients, but their families and caregivers. But not only that population- the site had to function equally well not only in its information dissemination for the multiple personas of advocates, scientists, physicians, donors and volunteers but also for huge databases, forms, grants information, financials.
From 2007 to 2014 we also made regular ongoing improvements and updates to the website.
When the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network first came to us in 2007 we were impressed with the level of commitment of the people involved with the organization and how they had come from small beginnings and were continuing to grow fast. At the time over 80% of their staff had sadly experienced pancreatic cancer first hand with a family member or friend. This was clearly a devoted team and extremely passionate about their mission. Having recently lost a beloved extended family member to pancreatic cancer ourselves, we were excited to participate with an organization that was clearly making a difference.
