The Organization – James S. Bower Foundation

Providing support for the positive social and cultural evolution of our world to create a better future is the mission of the J.S. Bower Foundation. They provide grants primarily in Santa Barbara, CA to non-profit partners who carry the shared belief that through compassionate action and social change we can advance to a healthier world. They believe that philanthropy is the means to both understanding and influencing change processes in society.

As such, they are committed to strategic, purpose-driven and outcome-oriented grant-making. Their interest lies in how we, as individuals and members of diverse cultural, religious, economic and political groups, can find commonality and further changes in:

• Educational, developmental and health processes for infants, children, and youth,
• Educational, developmental and health processes for seniors,
• Environmental conditions,
• Human consciousness and social awareness.

What We Did & Why

We were brought in during the very early stages of Foundation development to assist in creating the visual identity and communication. It was extremely exhilarating to learn about how the Foundation was conceived and the support behind it. Our job was to create an informational learning environment for the web for entities that might seek funding. This includes general information about the Foundation as well as application guidelines and links to applications.

The original site was created in 2006. It received such a resoundingly positive response over the years, that we used its heart and soul as inspiration for the heart of this current iteration launched at the end of December 2017.
