This site is the celebration of a completed novel, Reckoned by the Light of Stars, and will be used in the next phase of gaining representation. It also includes a blog focused on the history of Santa Barbara County and the larger world of the 1920s.
In her words:
“For my debut novel, a historical mystery, I have uncovered a wealth of information about daily life of everyday citizens in 1920s Santa Barbara County, California.I offer a glimpse of history from the perspective of a person like me, like my neighbors, like the people I have always known.”
What We Did & Why
We were thrilled to meet Cathy Berry and excited that she came to Fat Eyes to create the web presence she planned to use to build the next phase in her career as an author. It’s a particular honor for us to work with someone with so many gifts and we enjoyed every moment of working with her.
Cathy asked us to create a website that would serve as an introduction to her work and serve as a place to give a written and visual introduction to her as-of-yet unpublished novel in her quest to move it towards publication.
One of the most stimulating aspects of this project was the collaboration we embarked upon to uncover what would serve Cathy’s overarching purpose. We spent time learning about her and diving into many aspects of what might be possible. The research she did over many years that was elemental to the book she wrote, the characters, the locale and the plot. We felt it was important to include that material and Cathy’s long adventure of discovery. To that end, the site became a repository of her multi-talents. She is a writer, a photographer, and a researcher, collector and archivist of a particular time in local, Santa Barbara history.
