Gregory Gomez
Artist
Website Development & Design
2012 to present
Gregory Miguel Gómez looks at nature, uses human information, language, references to mathematics and other archetypical forms to inform his work. The resulting sculptures, paintings and drawings are mysterious as semi-scientific cryptic messages filled with symbology that many never be understood by the viewer. In that sense the work seems to have meaning and does but also does not. We get to apply our own meaning to the work.
His growing body of public sculpture can be seen at Youngstown State University, Addison Station, Challenger Learning Center, Harvard Medical School, The University of Chicago, Vermont Fire Academy and West Chicago Library.
Creating artist sites is generally an exercise in getting out of the way of the work. The idea is to create a neutral space for viewing images and absorbing feel, tone, ideas. We’ve made two sites for Gregory and reveled in the deliciously compelling and thought provoking imagery. Inspiration.
